IPDCTALKS 2018
The IPDCtalks are a global event series that aim to create world-wide discussion on how to foster open societies and inspire better laws and practices in the field of access to information. Global public and community leaders, journalists, NGOs and digital pioneers are invited to IPDCtalks to share their achievements and initiatives with an audience of local and global stakeholders. The talks are streamed live, fueling a global conversation on social media about the importance of access to information. The third annual IPDCtalks will be held in Tunis, Tunisia on 27 September, with eight satellite IPDCtalks in other countries to celebrate the International Day for Universal Access to Information.

Opening remarks by Ms. Albana Shala (Chair of UNESCO IPDC), Mr. Imed Hazgui, (President of the Authority for Access to Information), Mr. Moez Chakchouk (UNESCO ADG) and Mr Mohamed Zine El Abidine (Minister of Culture in Tunisia)
Ms Karman won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 as the first Arab woman. She is a journalist, human rights defender and co-founder of the group "Women Journalists Without Chains". Ms Karman will talk about the crucial role of journalism for gender equality.
Mr Letouzé leads a global coalition on Big Data and development by the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and MIT Media Lab. It promotes the big data revolution and the use of data to reinforce sustainable development, good governance, climate change and politics.
Mr Deloire is the Secretary-General of Reporters Without Borders, the world's leading NGO to protect press freedom and the safety of journalists.
Mante Makauskaite and Jevgenija are ICT4Development advocates and founders of AfriKo, which promotes the use of ICT and data for sustainable development.
Ms Karboul is Member of the Global Education Commission, headed by Gordon Brown. She has given several TEDx Talks about the global learning crisis and shared actionable ideas to ensure that every child has access to education.
Yasmine Azaiez is one of the world's most virtuous modern violinists. Yasmine has received numerous international awards and brings a modern vibe to the classical violin scene. She has given solo concerts in the most renowned concert halls, including the "Royal Albert Hall" in the UK, US, France and across the Arab world.
Chaima Bouhlel headed Marsad Baladia in 2014, an observatory that monitors all municipalities across Tunisia. Starting from 2016, she started co-hosting a weekly radio show on the National Radio discussing public policy and public institutions’ performance.
Mr Bahal is one of India's leading investigative journalists, exposing corruption and other wrongdoings. Mr Bahal is founder of Cobrapost, India's first and foremost independent investigative platform.
Ms Hariel is a leading journalist when it comes to consumer behaviour and 'positive' journalism. As a journalist for Yahoo Green, she inspires bottom-up change for climate action and sustainable consumer behaviour.
Mr Triebert is also known as the 'Tintin of the digital world'. Mr Triebert won the 2017 European Press Prize for investigating conflicts through digital open source information. Mr Triebert will talk on how open source information can hold governments accountable.
